December 2007

December 31, 2007

And the story unfolds.

Starting tomorrow - that'd be New Year's Day - I'm going to be talking a bit more about what we're doing.  And where we're doing it.  We can't give too much away in advance of our official announcement on 1/28 at DEMO...but we can give a bit more detail than we have.  So stay tuned!

And a Happy New Year!

Out (almost) with 2007.  In (almost) with 2008.  Exciting times.

Have a Happy and Safe(!) New Year's Eve.

WE'LL BE ANNOUNCING GOOD2GETHER AT DEMO 2008!!!

And yes, I did mean to use all capital letters.  I'm excited!

We'll be announcing good2gether at DEMO - which is the place to announce cool companies like good2gether.  You have to be picked to attend and present...and getting picked is a big deal...and we sure are excited about it!  On January 28th you can learn all you'd like to know about us.

07-12-29 Pats Win!

07-12-29 Pats Win!, originally uploaded by Middlesex Fells.

Wow.

For a 'meaningless' game...this one was pretty amazing. Especially given the Pats pulled it off.

Sixteen and oh. Unbelieveable.

GCM/good2gether in the news.

I'm quoted in The Boston Globe today.

Change the world, one click at a time

Social sites using tools of the Internet to call for action and to unite like-minded individuals

By Carolyn Y. Johnson
Globe Staff / December 29, 2007

All the networks, homemade videos, and blogs on the Web have made it a center for socializing, not social change. But a slew of start-ups are using the tech tools and social dynamics that have become the norm online to tackle real-world problems.

Whether it's through a social network that helps a Nicaraguan woman get a loan to expand her business selling dyed rope, or a website that uses video, podcasts, and other tools to turn a social activist into an Internet celebrity with an army of active followers, a growing number of people looking to make changes in the real world are going online.

Read the rest of it here and you can see what I had to say.

Peachtree City, GA to Melrose, MA.

Starting the drive from Peachtree City, GA back to Melrose, MA first thing Friday morning.  The trip will take two days and involves three carefully planned food stops.

  • Start at Peachtree City (A on the map below)
  • Then lunch at Lexington Barbecue in Lexington, NC (B)
  • Continue on to Hagerstown, MD for dinner at Schmankerl Stube (that'd be C - love German food!)
  • Overnight in Hagerstown
  • Then up first thing to New Haven, CT and the best pizza on Earth for lunch!  The best Jerry!  The best!  That'd be Frank Pepe.  (D) Yum it's good.
  • And then back to the ranch in Melrose in time to watch the Pats destroy the Gints (NY Football Giants).

The holidays were a ball and this should be much fun.

Oh.  I promised to tell you where we'll be announcing good2gether.  That'll come in another post.

The Carter Center.

I'm off for a meeting this morning with The Carter Center here in Atlanta.  They do pretty amazing stuff and I'm really looking forward to meeting with them.

Oh...FYI...we'll be announcing good2gether on January 28th, 2008...and I'll tell you tomorrow where we'll be doing that.  Exciting times!

Merry Christmas!

And a Happy New Year to all!

December 23, 2007

The best Xmas gift. Ever.

From the airman who's going home courtesy of Let's Bring Em Home and my miles on United (see the post below):

Subject: The greatest gift...

Thank you so very much for the donation you made to LBEH.org, you've made my families Christmas wish come true. This is the greatest gift we could have received this season and as I'm sure you could tell by the cost, it was a bit out of our range. Because of you, I will get to see my wife and son for the first time in since mid-August and get to see my boy turn 4.
Thank you again. I only hope that your holiday is as wonderful as you have made mine!

sincerely,
Kevin Kite

And how great is that...boy...does that ever make you feel good.

Kevin Kite is going home for (not quite) the holidays!

Just booked award travel on United to send Kevin Kite home for (almost) the holidays.  He's in the Air Force at Osan Air Base in South Korea and can't leave till January and has to be back in early February.  I just used 120,000 miles to send him home to his family.  It's a great Xmas gift.  It's not too late for you to do something - go to Let's Bring Em Home and use dollars or miles to get a deserving service person home with their family.

You'll be glad - really, really glad - that you did!
