See this? This changes everything.
And I mean e v e r y t h I n g.
What is it? Look at my profile on Facebook:
Sorry it's a bit hard to read (go to my Facebook profile to see it better). See the thing that I highlighted with the yellow star burst - I posted an in-kind donation need of used computers from YouthBuild Boston – a really terrific local nonprofit. They want used computer gear to train teens to refurbish the stuff and then it goes to the local community. That's two wins at the same time.
Here's the game changing part: I was in the DoGood Channel and I posted it directly to my Facebook profile. Think about that. No longer is cause engagement on Facebook some abstract concept – I'm against global warming or I'm for this or that nonprofit. Now it is the 'boots on the ground, this is how change happens' stuff – the event, the volunteering opportunity, the in-kind donation need, the needed program. Now everyone I'm connected to on Facebook sees what I'm involved with and can get involved themselves – they can click the link and they're right in the DoGood Channel listing for YouthBuild Boston.
Cause engagement on Facebook is no longer about abstractions, it's about getting stuff done.
