All right folks, who’s hungry?

Here's your assignment - eat at California Pizza Kitchen at 137 Stuart Street in Boston on Wednesday, July 16th.  Why?  Because if you do 20% of your bill will go to the On Your Feet Project.  Check out On Your Feet Project Does California Pizza Kitchen on the Do Good Channel.  If you download the flyer from their web site (linked from their listing) you'll have a good meal and help a terrific cause.

Go.  Eat.  Do good.

Man, I love how nonprofits are starting to use good2gether.

Are you on MySpace? Now your favorite nonprofit can be too!

We've added support for MySpace.  Now you can find your favorite cause or event or volunteering opportunity and post it to your MySpace page.

How?  It's easy.

  • Go to the Boston.com Do Good Channel.
  • Click on the featured item - today it's Case Management Intern for Crittenton Women's Union.
  • Look over to the right under 'page tools'.
  • Click on 'Share on MySpace'.
  • Enter your information, add a description.
  • And, bang!, your favorite nonprofit or cause or volunteering opportunity or event is posted to your MySpace page and you're now sharing it with all your friends.

Very cool.

Council of Community Services of New York State.

I gave the luncheon keynote yesterday to 150 to 180 people at their Money for Mission IV: Connecting Caue to Impact! conference - telling the nonprofits in attendence about good2gether and how important nonprofit content is to newspapers. Council of Community Services of New York State is a good2gether Launch Partner.

Great crowd, good questions, I very much ejoyed myself.

Do Good Grant Winner!

That's Patti Purcell (our COO) handing over a $1,000 check to Christine Tabak, Executive Director of the Merrimack River Watershed Council. They're the third winner of our Do Good Grant contest.

From the Wall Street Journal.

Read the whole thing here. The good news? Americans gave a record amount to charities last year. The bad news? There are signs that growth is slowing.

Not to toot our own horn but that's why good2gether and our Do Good Channels are so important to nonprofits today. They represent an incredible opportunity to reach millions of newspaper readers (online) and it's free or they can engage sponsors to actually make money while doing it.

Have you seen the Globe today?

We're psyched. This ad appeared today for the launch of the Boston.com Do Good Channel. Pretty powerful stuff.

Is your nonprofit ready for Gen Y?

Three great blog posts to share about how Gen Y approaches
everything—including cause engagement and all forms of
activism—differently. The question is, is your nonprofit ready?

ReadWriteWeb's Sarah Perez points out that Gen Y are different than
other generations in lots of ways, but especially these:
-  They're "Plugged In"—meaning they grew up around computers, the
Internet, mobile phones, video games, and mp3 players. They consume
lots of media and they expect to find and engage with causes online.
- They Don't Care About Your Ad, They Care What Their Friends
Think—meaning social media and grassroots marketing have got to be key
components of your outreach.

And Allan Benamer coins the terms "nonprofit 2.0," expanding on the
above idea and adding that "blogs and IM are as natural to [Gen Y'ers]
as writing a grant."

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Where to begin building a bridge to this future generation? By putting
your stuff on DoGoodChannel.com, of course! We've built in social
tools, we've made the whole thing so easy my cat could use it, we're
giving you access to 4.5 million monthly visitors (with the launch of
Boston.com's Do Good channel at dogood.boston.com)... and for
nonprofits, the service is free. http://www.DoGoodChannel.com/join

Newspaper revenue.

Newspaper print ad revenue is declining (quickly). Online is increasing (not quickly enough). We can help. Our Do Good Channels are sponsored. That generates new revenue for the newspaper. Provides an incredible service for their readers (who'd like to do good). And unlocks the huge numbers of monthly unique visitors to newspaper web sites for the benefit of nonprofits and it makes the service free to the nonprofits.

And nonprofits like 'free'.

Where you’ll find doing good at boston.com

We're incredibly excited to have launched at Boston.com. And there's a bunch of places on Boston.com where you can find the Do Good Channel. Here are some of them.

You can do good on the home page of boston.com (ongoing):

You can do good in the Lifestyle section of boston.com (ongoing):

Doing good appears next to a featured article on the home page of The Boston Globe (Tuesday, June 10):

  • Go here.
  • Scroll mid-way down to the article 'For hospices, an infusion of youth'
  • Notice underneath the article: 'HOW TO HELP? Volunteering opportunities in Boston' - that links to the Boston.com Do Good Channel.

And you can find doing good at an article on boston.com (Tuesday, June 10):

  • For hospices, an infusion of youth
  • Notice underneath the first line in the article: 'HOW TO HELP? Volunteering opportunities in Boston' - that links to the Boston.com Do Good Channel.
  • Incidentally, how powerful is that? Read an article. Do something about what's covered in the article. Much more of that coming.

Integration within the photo galleries (ongoing):

  • Go here.
  • A note - the photo galleries are largely filled with photos of nonprofit events and get tens of millions of monthly page views.
  • Notice on the left rail towards the top - they've integrated the 'DO SOMETHING GOOD' widget.
  • Users can select a cause category and/or a way to participate and/or a search term to find the right cause engagement for them.

Boston.com gets over 4M monthly unique visitors. Over 150M monthly page views. If you're a nonprofit in Boston or, for that matter, in New England you can't afford not to be in good2gether. Sign up here today!
