Turning Bad News Into Good Deeds
Tired of reading bad news? What if ‘bad news’ were paired with an opportunity to ‘do good?' good2gether, Inc., is enabling forward-thinking news organizations, like Boston Globe Media, and the San Francisco Chronicle to do just that, by powering their Do Good™ Channel, a service that allows readers to browse, search for, and share information about local charitable events, volunteer opportunities and more.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC.com), which will launch its own Do Good Channel this summer, recently conducted an online reader survey to gauge the public interest and potential impact of a Do Good Channel on their site. Here’s what they discovered:
• 84% of readers already volunteer time or money to a local nonprofit organization
• 89% feel there is a need for a community resource that would make it easier to find local opportunities to engage with causes
• 67% would use such a resource
• 63% felt that such a resource would make them likely to support those organizations more than they presently do
